How Do I Help a Friend with a Struggling Husband?
A friend from church confided in me that her husband is into pornography. My first response was to refer them to Pure Life and to pray for them. What else can I do without breaking confidentiality?
Your response to their need has been just right. Not only have you given them a place to turn for help, but you are taking their need before the throne of God.
It is a good sign that your friend has opened up to you. Covering the husband’s sin helps to keep him in the dark. Now that the two of you have discussed the situation, you can be there for her in the future. Don’t be surprised if she continues opening up to you. It’s a great opportunity to really help a woman in need. You don’t need to feel obligated to offer advice, or even have answers. Just being a friend to her will mean a lot.
Hopefully she will use wisdom when picking the time to share with her husband about Pure Life. He will have to decide for himself whether or not he wants help. In the meantime, you can continue to pray that he will truly repent and that she will find her comfort and fulfillment in Christ.
