Jesus’ statements in John 15 about “abiding” are a common source of comfort for Christians today. But that wasn't their only intended purpose when Jesus spoke them to His disciples. In context, they also represent a call to action for all true believers; a call to be kept from our destructive natures by yielding ourselves to the true spiritual life that is in Jesus.
